What Happens if I Disconnect an Integration?

SoTrustworthySoTrustworthy Team·5 min read

Disconnecting an integration immediately stops SoTrustworthy from pulling new completed jobs and customer records from platforms like Jobber or HubSpot. Your historical review data, customer opt-out preferences, custom message templates, and account settings remain completely safe and accessible inside SoTrustworthy. You can reconnect your software or map a new integration whenever you are ready without losing past performance metrics.

What happens to your review requests when you disconnect

When you disconnect an active CRM or field service integration, the link between your management software and SoTrustworthy is severed. Here is what happens in real time:

  • New job syncs stop immediately: As soon as the connection is broken, SoTrustworthy stops receiving webhooks or API triggers from your management software. If an HVAC technician or plumber completes a job in Jobber 30 seconds after you disconnect, that job will not import into SoTrustworthy.
  • Automatic SMS requests pause: Because no new customer records or completed invoices are flowing into SoTrustworthy, your automated review request workflows will come to a halt for that specific provider.
  • Manual review requests still work: Disconnecting an automated integration does not freeze your entire SoTrustworthy account. You can still send manual SMS review requests to clients via your SoTrustworthy dashboard, upload CSV contact lists, or generate direct review links.

Disconnecting an integration will never disrupt your current subscription plan (whether you are on the Starter, Growth, or Pro tier, or currently using our 14-day trial).

What data stays safe inside your SoTrustworthy account

You never lose historical information when you disconnect a software tool. SoTrustworthy retains your account history so that your reporting and compliance remain intact.

  • Past review analytics: All data related to sent text messages, click-through rates, Google review conversions, and timing metrics remain accessible in your reports.
  • Google reviews collected: Any Google reviews your business earned while the integration was active stay permanently on your Google Business Profile. SoTrustworthy never alters or deletes published customer reviews.
  • Customer opt-out records: Compliance records—specifically STOP replies and opt-outs—are saved permanently in your SoTrustworthy database to ensure you remain compliant with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
  • Custom templates and branding: Your custom SMS wording, follow-up timing sequences, review destination links, and logo setups remain saved for future use.

How queued and throttled messages are handled

SoTrustworthy uses review-request throttling to protect your sender reputation and prevent sudden spikes in SMS traffic that could trigger carrier spam filters under A2P 10DLC regulation guidelines.

If you disconnect an integration while review requests are currently sitting in your dispatch queue, here is how the system handles them:

  1. Jobs already imported before disconnect: If a customer job was synced before you clicked disconnect, but was scheduled to send 2 hours later based on your delay settings, SoTrustworthy will still process and send that queued request unless you manually cancel it from your campaign queue.
  2. Jobs completed after disconnect: Any job marked as "Closed" or "Paid" in your CRM after the precise minute of disconnection will not enter the queue at all.
  3. Active throttling queues: If you have high volume and SoTrustworthy’s throttling algorithm has spaced out 20 text messages across the afternoon, those 20 messages will finish sending. Once the current queue clears, no new messages will enter the pipeline until an integration is re-established or contacts are uploaded manually.

If you want to stop all outbound text messages instantly upon disconnecting, navigate to your Outbound Queue in SoTrustworthy and select Clear Pending Requests before disconnecting your CRM.

Jobber vs. HubSpot: Specific disconnect behaviors

Different software platforms handle API disconnections in unique ways. Here is what to expect depending on which software you are disconnecting:

Jobber

When you disconnect Jobber from SoTrustworthy:

  • The automated webhook generated inside Jobber’s developer app is immediately removed or deactivated.
  • Invoices changed to "Paid" or visits marked "Completed" in Jobber will no longer trigger SMS review prompts.
  • Client updates made in Jobber (such as phone number changes or opt-outs) will no longer sync to SoTrustworthy.
  • Re-authorizing Jobber later requires logging back into your Jobber account through SoTrustworthy’s integration panel to grant fresh permissions.

HubSpot

When you disconnect HubSpot from SoTrustworthy:

  • Deals moved to "Closed Won" or custom workflow triggers configured inside HubSpot will cease pushing contacts to SoTrustworthy.
  • Contact properties or contact list syncs between HubSpot and SoTrustworthy stop instantly.
  • Any custom workflow actions inside HubSpot that rely on SoTrustworthy webhooks will throw execution errors inside HubSpot until those workflows are paused or updated.

Compliance and Google policy assurance

SoTrustworthy strictly adheres to official guidelines to ensure your business account remains in good standing. Disconnecting an integration does not affect your adherence to these rules:

  • No Review Gating: SoTrustworthy operates with strict adherence to Google review policies, meaning we direct all customers directly to your official Google review form regardless of whether an integration is active or disconnected.
  • Opt-Out Retention: If a customer previously opted out of SMS messages by texting "STOP", that phone number remains on your global blocklist inside SoTrustworthy. Even if you disconnect Jobber, switch to HubSpot, and re-import that same customer phone number, SoTrustworthy will automatically suppress review requests to that number to ensure compliance with carrier regulations.

How to safely disconnect an integration

If you are changing your field service software, updating account credentials, or troubleshooting a connection, follow these steps to safely disconnect:

  1. Log into your SoTrustworthy Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Integrations.
  3. Locate the active software connection (e.g., Jobber or HubSpot).
  4. Click the Settings / Actions dropdown menu next to the connected app.
  5. Select Disconnect.
  6. Confirm the prompt when asked if you wish to revoke API access.
  7. (Optional) Go to your Queue tab and verify if any pending scheduled messages need to be paused or cleared.

How to reconnect or switch to a new integration

If you disconnected your system to switch from Jobber to HubSpot (or simply needed to re-authenticate credentials), reconnecting is straightforward:

  • Re-authenticating the same tool: Return to Settings > Integrations, select your tool, click Connect, and log in with your primary admin credentials. SoTrustworthy will re-establish the connection.
  • Preventing duplicate requests: When reconnecting a tool or adding a new CRM, SoTrustworthy automatically checks your historic send log. The platform will not re-send SMS review requests to customers who received a request within your configured safeguard window (e.g., 30, 60, or 90 days), preventing customer fatigue.
  • Switching platforms: If you are migrating your home service business to a new CRM, disconnect your old tool first, complete your CRM migration, and then connect your new tool inside SoTrustworthy. Your custom SMS workflows and review limits will seamlessly attach to incoming data from the new platform.
